Our Fifth Wheel RV

Our RV is a 2017 Forest River Sandpiper 389RD. We bought the RV brand new from the dealership and it has held up very well for us over the years.

Some of the amenities included in this unit are an LG residential refrigerator, an electric fireplace, a king-sized bed, washer/dryer hookups, and a full-size sliding glass door.

We have added a solar system to our RV including 975 watts of solar panels on the roof, 600 amp hours of lithium batteries, and a 3000-watt inverter/charger. This setup allows us to boondock easily with minimal use of a generator.

Grace

Grace is a 2004 Peterbilt 387. She has a Meritor 12 speed auto-shift transmission and a Cummins ISX engine. At the time we bought her, she had 909,000 miles on the odometer.

In the time since we purchased Grace we have added a flatbed deck on the back that, for a while, carried a Smart car. We also installed a Trailer Saver BD3 air ride fifth wheel hitch, which softens the ride for our RV and helps protect its frame.

Bubba’s 2009 Suzuki V Strom 1000

Bubba’s bike is a 2009 Suzuki V Strom 1000. The bike looked just like new when we bought it and came equipped with Nelson Rigg soft bags and offroad gear such as the skid plate and hand guards. We added the Kuryakin Grand Pet Palace to give Lulu a safe and comfortable place to ride.

Kat’s 2008 Suzuki V Strom 650

Kat’s bike is a Suzuki V Strom 650. Since this is her first bike, she wanted an older bike that she wouldn’t feel bad about dropping. When she bought the bike it had an unknown maintenance history, a cracked windscreen, a broken brake lever, and one handguard was broken and the other was missing. It was equipped with hard Givi panniers that were scuffed up from previous drops. It already had the skid plate, crash bars and radiator guard installed on it.

She has been working on getting the bike fixed up and outfitted the way she wants it, and jokes she has a 2008 bike with 2022 parts. Since purchasing the bike she has replaced the wind screen, installed new hand guards, new brake and clutch levers, added a GPS mount, and replaced the hard bags with soft Mosko Moto bags.

Mechanical parts that have been replaced include a new chain and sprockets, a new fuel delivery system, a new battery and stater and new Continental TKC80 tires.
